Moldova's national under-21 football team obtained its first victory and points in UEFA 2103 Championship qualifying Group 6 after defeating Poland 0-1 on Monday, Info-Prim Neo reports. The only goal of the match was scored on the 71st minute by Gheorghe Andronic from a from a free-kick. All Poland's efforts to reverse the situation were annihilated by Moldova's stoic defense and goalie Victor Dymov. This lucky break for Moldova comes on Polish ground where manager Alexandru Curteian became champion with Widzew Lodz 15 years ago. Elsewhere in Group 6, Albania surprisingly held Portugal to a 2-2 draw. With these results, Russia continue to stay at the top of the table with a maximum of 12 points, followed by Portugal with 8 points and Poland with 7 points. Albania accumulated 4 points as Moldova remain at the bottom with 3 points earned. Moldova U21s' next fixture will be the reverse match with Poland on June 1, 2012 in Chisinau.
