The Under-17 football team of Moldova failed to reach the second qualifying round of the 2019 UEFA European Championship, IPN reports.
The team trained by Alexandru Guzun drew 2-2 the match against the similar squad of Latvia played in Vadul lui Vodă town and finished last in Group 12. Moldova was leading by 2-0 before the pause owing to the goals scored by Petru Gherman and Daniel Danu, but in the second half allowed Jekabs Laguns and Deniss Melniks to score in its goal.
The first two ranked teams of the group, Belgium and Greece, qualified directly for the second round. Latvia has chances of reaching the next round from the third place.
