Energocom in the first three months of next year will purchase 100 MW of band (24 hours a day) from the Romanian company Nuclearelectrica, which owns the Cernavoda nuclear power plant. The volume is almost three times higher than in December. A contract in this regard was signed on Thursday by representatives of the two companies, IPN reports.

The price of energy from Nuclearelectrica is capped by an emergency ordinance of the Romanian Government at 400 RON/MWh or about 80 EUR/MWh.

In the winter months, the amount of electricity produced by the district heating plants in Chisinau and Balti covers 25%-30% of the needs of the right bank of the Nistru. The electricity bought from Nuclearelectrica will provide a greater amount of safe and continuous energy to which it is added the energy produced from renewable sources, which depends on weather conditions and which will ensure greater security of deliveries in the electricity system of the Republic of Moldova.

During peak hours, the consumption needs are satisfied with energy purchased from the Romanian electricity and gas market operator OPCOM.
