Members of the governmental commission for European integration in the May 18 meeting analyzed the level of preparedness for the meetings of the bodies that monitor the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. These are the meeting of the Moldova – EU Joint Committee on the Common Aviation Area Agreement and the meeting of Cluster V “Agriculture and rural development, fisheries and maritime policy, regional development, crossborder and regional cooperation”, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, the commission examined the reports presented by the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure and the Civil Aviation Authority on the fulfillment of the commitments assumed in accordance with the Common Aviation Area Agreement with the EU. On May 25 this year, Brussels will host the fourth annual meeting of the Moldova – EU Joint Committee that was constituted based on the Common Aviation Area Agreement signed in 2012. There, Moldova will report on the progress made since last summer in transposing the Community acquis in the area of civil aviation.
There was also examined the report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry on the preparations for the meeting of Cluster V of the Moldova – EU Subcommittee for Economy, Social and Sector Aspects. According to the authorities, as this is the first meeting of the kind, it is an opportunity for Moldova to put to good use the given form of dialogue with the EU given that less traditional subjects, such as the maritime policy and fisheries, will be also discussed there.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who chaired the meeting, requested the responsible institutions to ensure the highest preparedness level for the given events as this will facilitate the development of the Moldova – EU relations in the immediate period.
