Moldova to take part in G7 foreign ministers’ meeting for first time

A delegation of the Republic of Moldova led by Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, for the first time will be taking part in the meeting of G7 foreign ministers on May 12-14, at the invitation of the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalena Baerbock. Ethel event will take place in Germany’s Weissenhaus, IPN reports.

In the meeting, the Moldovan minister will speak about the security situation in the region in the context of the war in Ukraine, the management of the refugee crisis, the socioeconomic impact on the Republic of Moldova and the sustained efforts made by the Moldovan authorities in the reform and modernization process on the path of European integration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration noted in a press release.

Also, Nicu Popescu will have bilateral meetings with the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Yves Le Drian and other high-ranking officials.

The Group of Seven (G7) is an inter-governmental political forum consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Its members are the world’s largest IMF advanced economies and wealthiest liberal democracies. The group is officially organized around shared values of pluralism and representative government.
