Prime Minister Vlad Filat and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton signed a framework-agreement on Moldova’s participation in the EU crisis management missions in Brussels. The two officials agreed that Catherine Ashton will pay a visit to Moldova next spring, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government. The officials said that by this agreement, Moldova becomes a contributor to the regional and international security as it will take an active part in the common foreign and security policy of the European Union. Catherine Ashton highlighted the progress made by Moldova in the dialogue with the EU, saying the Moldovan authorities’ efforts to fulfill the conditions needed to meet the European standards are appreciated in Brussels. “We see that the Republic of Moldova honors all its commitments and is fully engaged in the European integration process. We, the Europeans, will continue to support you. Moldova has a European prospect and we believe in the choice made by Moldova,” she stated. The Transnistrian issued was a separate subject for discussion. Catherine Ashton confirmed the European community’s support for the promotion of the talks in the 5+2 format with a view to identifying a viable solution to the conflict.
