Moldova in the near future will be able to take out loans from a number of international financial organizations. The possible mechanisms were discussed in Brussels by the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Government of Moldova, Jose Manuel Barroso said that when the Iasi–Ungheni gas pipeline is constructed, Moldova will have its first direct interconnection with the EU energy market. The installation of back-to-back convertors on the Vulcanesti – Isaccea power line will enable Moldova to increase the imports of electric power from Romania up to half of the annual electricity consumption of Moldova.
For his part, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that the Vilnius Summit is a very important stage for Moldova and its European course. By accelerated reforms in justice, in the fight against corruption, the Government of Moldova shows how seriously it treats the preparations for the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU.
In the same meeting, Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta said the Government of Romania will use all the possible resources from the national budget, from the structural and cohesion funds to develop energy and transport infrastructure projects. At the start of next year, there will be organized a new meeting to establish the stage at which the priority projects are.
