On the night between October 27 and 28 Moldova will switch to standard time, also called winter time. At 3:00am the clocks will jump backward one hour.
In compliance with the recommendation of the UN Economic Commission for Europe, the members of the European community make the switch from summer time back to standard time on the last Sunday of October as an energy conservation measure.
Doctors say that people get used to the switch to standard time faster than to the summer time switch. The adaptation to the new conventional time takes place differently for each person, but as a rule, it doesn’t last more than two weeks.
The practice of changing the clocks according to the daylight saving system dates from 1908.
