The Republic of Moldova will benefit from €40 million in grant funding. The money is provided under a financing agreement with the European Commission, which was signed on May 11 and was ratified by the Cabinet today, IPN reports.

Minister of Finance Veronica Sirețeanu said that it goes to the EU4Resilience and Governance program. The goal of the program is to strengthen the resilience of the state and society and to ensure socioeconomic recovery with emphasis on good governance, stability and peace.

The official noted that based on the agreement, there will be launched new projects that refer to human capital strengthening, national stability and territorial integrity, agrifood systems, technical assistance and other complementary actions. The projects’ implementation period is 72 months.

In the same meeting, the Cabinet ratified the Agreement with the European Union on Moldova’s participation in the Connecting Europe Facility, which was signed on May 9, 2023. “The given mechanism is the most important European instrument for supporting investments, developing infrastructure with a total budget of €26 billion until 2027. The Republic of Moldova’s participation in this program will facilitate access to funding for co-financing major infrastructure projects in the fields of transport, energy and digitalization,” said Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Lilia Dabija.

In this connection, Prime Minister Dorin Recean asked to create a portal on which to publish comprehensive information about the external assistance within three weeks. “The same sums are repeated for two-three times, when discussions are initiated, when the funding is approved by an institution and then by another institution. We should ensure maximum transparency for all the citizens, as regards the budgets and the disbursements under these,” said the Premier.
