Moldova will use the successful practices and experience of Cyprus in the area of broadcasting. In this respect, the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) signed a cooperation agreement with the Cyprus Radio - Television Authority, IPN reports.
In the signing ceremony, BCC chairman Marian Pocaznoi said the accord will encourage the cooperation relations, will support the reciprocal exchange of information and good practices between the regulatory authorities and will help carry out joint activities aimed at increasing the quality of audiovisual services and at adjusting them to the European standards.
Cyprus will offer Moldova technical assistance in the process of switching over from analogical television to digital television. Cyprus switched to this standard in 2011, while Moldova is to do it by 2015. Another aspect that is to be adjusted to the European standards is the quality of the audiovisual programs for children. “Cyprus intensely promotes this European directive. That’s why we decided to learn from its experience,” stated Marian Pocaznoi.
Andreas Petrides, executive president of the Cyprus Radio - Television Authority, said that this memorandum will open a new stage of cooperation for the two institutions. It is a multilateral memorandum, while the Cypriot authority will support the Moldovan broadcasting regulator in its efforts to integrate into the international forums.
The agreement forms part of Moldova’s aspirations for European integration.
