An Electro Marathon will be held in Moldova on September 7 and 8. The participants will travel together 1000 km by electric vehicles across the country in a maximum of 24 hours, charging the batteries as little as possible. Drivers will be able to share their experiences with each other, while also mapping the EV charging network currently existing in Moldova, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Energy says that Moldova tends to integrate more and more renewable energy into its electricity system, thus creating favorable conditions for development of environment-friendly transport, among other things. In recent years the number of EV charging stations in Moldova has increased considerably, and fast charging stations have appeared in almost all districts of the country. “We also aim to test the charging capabilities of electric stations in real time, as those responsible for the development and management of stations for electric cars will join us at the event with their own team”, the ministry said.

Owners of electric cars with a fast-charging option that preferably, but not necessarily, have at least 200 km of real autonomy can participate in the event. The brand or the power of the car does not matter; instead, respect for speed limits is a must.

The Electro Marathon, Fast and Green: 1000 km, is organized with the financial support of the European Union.
