Moldova to have representative at Europol

The Republic of Moldova will have a special representative at the European Police Office Europol. A decision to this effect was approved by the Government on December 6 and is stipulated in the Moldova – EU Visa Liberalization Action Plan, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Moldova’s representative will be a liaison officer with the status of diplomat, named for a three-year-period. After the first term in office expires, it can be extended for one year in exceptional cases.
The liaison officer’s obligations include to contribute to developing cooperation between the institutions responsible for combating criminality and to facilitate the exchange of information between Moldova, the European Police Office and the EU Member States.
The Government of Moldova is to sign the operational cooperation agreement with Europol.
