Moldova to get SIDA grant for energy efficiency program

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) will provide a grant of 16 million kronor (US$1.5 million) to Moldova to implement the energy efficiency program. The Government empowered Minister of Finance Mariana Durlesteanu to open the talks and sign the agreement, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The money will be used to carry out a feasibility study and work out a project to start the reconstruction of the plumbing and electrics at the Institute for Scientific Research into the Mother and Child Health Protection.
There will be also set up a natural gas-fueled thermal station and reconstructed the heat pipes and heating system of the Ftiziopneumology Rehabilitation Center for Children in Tyrnova.
The rest of the money will go to continue implementing the thermal component of the World Bank Energy II Project. Recently, the World Bank approved additional financing in the amount of US$10 million for this project.
Earlier, the SIDA provided grants to Moldova to modernize the thermoelectric system and to improve energy efficiency.
