The national COVID-19 immunization coordination committee approved the quantity of 2 074 742 doses of vaccines that are to be purchased through the cost-sharing mechanism of the COVAX Facility, IPN reports, quoting the Ministry of Health.

It was also decided to buy 100,000 doses of CoronaVac vaccine against COVID-19 through direct negotiations, instead of the 400,000 doses agreed earlier, given that COVAX will help to cover 50% of the population with vaccine and given the donations of vaccines.

The committee considered the possibility of purchasing a quantity of Sputnik V vaccines in addition to the 182,000 doses that are to be received as a donation from Russia. It was decided to ask for a commercial offer of the Sputnik V producer from the Russian Direct Investment Fund, for 700,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine.

According to the COVD-19 national immunization plan, 70% of Moldova’s population is to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
