The Republic of Moldova will purchase mobile radiological complexes from the Republic of Belarus. A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed on December 11 during Prime Minister Pavel Filip’s visit to a company specialized in manufacturing modern medical equipment, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the mobile medical units provide efficient solutions in the fields of pulmonary X-ray and mammography. The digital mobile radiological complexes will be used to prevent diseases, especially tuberculosis. The goal of the initiative is to increase the rural population’s access to prophylactic services of a high quality.

While in Minsk, Pavel Filip had a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Andrei Kobyakov. The two underlined the positive dynamics of the Moldovan-Belarusian relations and the more intense political and institutional dialogue, noting that the more frequent meetings produce results. Trade between Moldova and Belarus in the first nine months of this year rose by 10%.

Pavel Filip said Moldova would like the number of joint capital enterprises to increase and provides thus a series of advantages to foreign investors. For his part, Andrei Kobyakov noted that Belarus is ready to develop the economic and commercial relations with Moldova, mentioning the successful cooperation in the assembly of tractors and trolleybuses. Among the main cooperation areas between Moldova and Belarus are also the agro-industrial, animal-breeding and pharmaceutical sectors.

According to another press release of the Government, over 120 Moldovan and Belarusian entrepreneurs took part in a business forum in Minsk on December 11. The participants were welcomed by Pavel Filip and Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Mihail Rusyi.

The Moldovan Premier said Belarus is Moldova’s ninth largest trading partner. Trade between the two countries is projected to reach US$ 200 million towards the end of this year. Over 80 companies with Belarusian capital work now in Moldova. He encouraged the entrepreneurs to establish direct contacts and new partnerships.

Mihail Rusyi said increasing the volume of bilateral commercial exchanges is a common goal of the Governments of Moldova and Belarus. “This means new jobs and larger amounts collected into the state budgets to solve social problems. We see a reliable partner in the Moldovan authorities and the business community of the Republic of Moldova,” he stated.

Six Moldovan-Belarusian forums had been held in 2016-2017.
