Moldova regards the European Integration as an internal task resulting in modernising its state construction, speaker Marian Lupu stated at the reception held by the Embassy of Germany on the occasion of Romania’s and Bulgaria’s accession to the European Union on January 1, 2007. As the speaker said, acknowledging the realities of “the Europe of 27 member states”, when it is time for a pause to assimilate the results, and, as a result of an improbability of other immediate enlargement after January 2007, the political leadership and civil society in Moldova have expressed their irreversible option in favour of the European Union. Lupu also stated that Moldova regards Moldova-EU Action Plan, valid until 2008, as an “itinerary" of the relations with Europe in the near future. “The successful achievement of the Action Plan will pave the way for a new format of the Moldova-EU relations” Lupu said, announcing that Chisinau pleads for “ENP Plus” concept, which would include this message of the Union for Moldova. The speaker is sure that despite the concerns regarding the enlargement, the EU will not put off the reconsideration of its relations with the neighbour countries. After Romania’s accession, the future EU border should not become a new delimitation line for Moldova. A well-defined policy of cooperation, which will develop the existent legal framework and will be based on common values, will allow us to reciprocally gain advantages, Lupu said. Germany’s Ambassador Wolfgang Lerke stated that after Romania’s and Bulgaria’s accession new members are expected to come, but until then the process of adopting the European Constitution must be resumed. The relations of Moldova with the EU have been strengthened in the last three years, he added. Head of the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Chisinau, Nikolay Iliev said in turn that Bulgaria will continue to support its neighbours politically, morally and share its experience so that Moldova achieves the same goals. The diplomat is hopeful that the fifth wave of EU enlargement is not the last one. Filip Teodorescu, Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau mentioned that, as member of EU, Romania intends to become an active member of the European space. “The European Integration became the daily life for each Romanian and that is why it must represent an initial moment for the Romanians from everywhere. Romania will back the European policy of Moldova”, head of Romanian diplomatic mission Filip Teodorescu stated.
