On the night of October 27, at 3am, Moldova switches to winter or standard time. Clocks will be set backward one hour. Thus, 3am will become 2am, IPN reports.

The switch to winter time is done in accordance with the proposal of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, simultaneously with the EU member states. The Commission’s Convention that was signed by about 70 states, including Moldova, was adopted to ensure the rational use of electrical energy by saving daylight and reducing the use of artificial energy.

Doctors say the change of hour can affect the biorhythm of some persons, who become tired and nervous. The body needs time to adjust itself. The persons with increased sensibility must avoid excessive physical effort, drinking alcoholic beverages and overeating.

The switch to winter time takes place on the last Sunday of October. The summer time is restored on the last Sunday of March.
