Moldovan-Slovakian consultations on the European integration took place in Chisinau. The discussions centered on the provisional implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, which envisions the creation of the Deep and Compressive Free Trade Area, from September 1, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Moldova’s delegation was led by Deputy Minister Iulian Groza, while the delegation of Slovakia by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Peter Burian.
Peter Burian said that Moldova is an important partner of Slovakia and remains one of the top three countries that will receive development assistance from the Slovak Government. “You can count on our full support for the efforts to reform the judicial system and to strengthen the civil society’s capacities as the people’s support in this period is crucial,” he stated.
Within the consultations, the sides agreed to facilitate the setting up of working groups consisting of experts to identify the exact areas where Moldova could benefit from Slovak assistance. Moldova and Slovakia will also cooperate in the area of economic diplomacy.
Peter Burian had a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi. The officials highlighted the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and agreed to intensify the cooperation in areas of common interest. Tudor Ulianovschi noted that Moldova is interested in learning from Slovakia’s experience in promoting economic diplomacy and in attracting foreign investments to the national economy.
At the end of the meeting, the officials signed the bilateral protocol of cooperation in the area of economic diplomacy. The document will allow exchanging experience and cooperating in attracting investments for implementing projects of mutual interest.
