The Ministry of Economy, the National Bureau of Statistics and the EU’s INOGATE Program signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in energy statistics, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Economy, the tripartite document is aimed at officially adopting the Energy Statistics Action Plan (ESAP) by clearly determining the role and responsibility of the sides in implementing the activities stipulated in the plan.
The INOGATE was created in 1996 to rehabilitate the infrastructure of the energy sector. Among its goals are enhancing energy security, convergence of member state energy markets on the basis of EU internal energy market principles, supporting sustainable energy development, and attracting investment for energy projects of common and regional interest.
Since 1996, the technical assistance provided trough the INOGATE projects amounted to €125 million. The program’s partner countries are: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine.
