Four interstate agreements between Moldova and Turkey were signed in the meeting of the high-level Moldovan – Turkey Strategic Cooperation Council that is co-chaired by President Igor Dodon and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
The four agreements are: the agreement on the mutual institution of cultural centers; the agreement on the formation and training of personnel of law enforcement agencies; the agreement on conversion and mutual recognition of driver’s licenses and the intergovernmental agreement on combined international freight transport.
Premier Ion Chicu, who accompanied President Dodon to Turkey, said that after the Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and Turkey took effect, the Moldovan businesses gained access to a market with about 80 million consumers. The Free Trade Agreement stimulated trade between the countries in the first nine months of 2019, this amounting to US$ 482 million, while the balance-of-trade deficit decreased by US$37 million owing to the rise in the value of exports from Moldova to Turkey.
The Premier invited the Turkish businessmen to implement technologies in Moldova. “I recently read about an electric car that was fully designed in Turkey and about the objective to develop the afferent national infrastructure until 2022. It is a subject of increased interest for us and we invite you to implement your technologies in the Republic of Moldova,” stated Ion Chicu.
Ministers Aureliu Ciocoi, Pavel Voicu and Anatol Usatyi also travelled to Turkey.
