Moldova intends to sign an agreement with Russia to ensure employment and social security for migrants from both countries, informed Moldovan Minister of Labor and Social Protection Valentina Buliga, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We wish to sign such an agreement with the Russian Federation because we have approximately 200,000 Moldovans working today in that country”, explained Valentina Buliga at a press conference. The Minister recalled that recently Moldova has signed a similar agreement with Italy. The document regulates migration processes and employment of migrants both in Moldova and Italy. Additionally, Moldovan migrants will be taught Italian so that they can upgrade their status from unskilled workers to higher. “At the end of August technical teams will be here to work on a mechanism for the agreement's implementation. It is very important that our citizens working in Italy know that they can have a job there, that they have insurance and guarantees and know the size of their salary. We don't want to expose our citizens to risks”, declared Valentina Buliga. Moldova has similar intergovernmental agreements on social security signed with Bulgaria, Portugal, Romania and Luxemburg.
