Moldova, Romania to negotiate institution of common border control

The Moldovan and Romanian authorities are initiating negotiations on the carrying out of common checks on persons, motor vehicles and goods at joint border crossing points, IPN reports.

Based on an agreement that is to be signed, the “common stop” principle will be applied to accelerate the border crossing procedure.

According to the Government of Moldova, the common border control will have a positive impact on the protection of Moldova’s economic interests, the prevention and fight against organized transfrontier crime and international terrorism.

The agreement on the checking of persons, motor vehicles and goods at joint border crossing points between Moldova and Romania will be signed for an indefinite period of time and will take effect in 30 days of the official notification by diplomatic ways.
