The Government of the People’s Republic of China offered the National Army of the Republic of Moldova a consignment of military equipment and other gear to the value of 8 million Yuan (15m lei). The equipment was handed over in an official ceremony staged at the Ministry of Defense. The event involved the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Moldova Zhang Yinghong, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Defense, Ambassador Zhang Yinghong said the People’s Republic of China has provided logistic support to the National Army of Moldova during the past 15 years and this assistance contributed to strengthening the defense system and creating working conditions for the Moldovan service members.
The consignment includes nine minibuses with a different transportation capacity, three ambulances, four refrigerator trucks, ten electrical generators and spare parts for the vehicles. The Chinese side covered the costs of transportation up to the Constanta Port in Romania, while the Ministry of Defense those for delivering the consignment from Constanta to Chisinau.
The donation was made based on an agreement initiated by the sides in September 2012 and signed in October 2016. Overall, the National Army benefitted from logistic assistance from the Chinese Government to the value of 18 million Yuan (30m lei).
