Moldova has received 188,000 shots of the GCFLU tetravalent influenza vaccine, with a dose of 0.5 ml in a pre-filled syringe, bought from the sources of the National Health Insurance Company.
The vaccines have been stored under cold chain conditions at the National Vaccine Storehouse of the National Agency for Public Health. The shots will be distributed to territorial public health centers to vaccinate professional and most-at-risk groups.
Vaccination is the safest and most effective way of preventing influenza, the National Agency for Public Health recalls in a press release. The benefits of vaccination against influenza are: reducing the risk of severe forms of the disease and the number of illnesses, visits to the doctor, lost days of work or studies, as well as the prevention of complications, hospitalization and deaths caused by influenza. As in the previous flu season, simultaneous vaccination against influenza and COVID-19 is recommended.
