Between April and December 2024, the company Energocom purchased over 8.8 million MWh of gas, equivalent to 830 million cubic meters. The weighted average purchase price was approximately €40/MWh. The majority of the gas was resold to Moldovagaz via the BRM Est platform, IPN reports.

Energocom clarified that the purchase price reflects only the market cost, to which transportation and logistics expenses are later added.

The natural gas was acquired from eight EU companies, as well as from the BRM (Romanian Commodities Exchange). More than two-thirds of the supply came from Romanian entities, including OMV Petrom, Romgaz, Engie Energy Romania, and BRM.

A total of 109 bidding rounds were organized for the procurement process, following the rules of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) loan. Up to nine European competitors participated, with 37 rounds resulting in delivery contracts.

Additional transactions were conducted on the Romanian Commodities Exchange (BRM).

The full purchased volume was financed through the EBRD loan, the Norwegian Nansen grant, and Energocom's own financial resources.
