Moldova pleads for developing the strategic dialogue with the United States, Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet said in a meeting with the U.S. Ambassador in Chisinau James Pettit on August 3, IPN reports.
Valeriu Strelet expressed his gratitude to the U.S. partners for the constant support offered to Moldova, including for the valuable financial assistance provided by the United States. He pleaded for extending the strategic dialogue with the United States launched in Washington in 2014, which serves as a multidimensional platform for the bilateral cooperation. The Premier referred especially to the investment projects implemented in Moldova with support from the U.S. partners.
“We ascertain with satisfaction the beneficial effects of the implementation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s Compact and express our increased interest in seeing Moldova accepted as a beneficiary for the second Compact. This can contribute to strengthening the energy efficiency and security of our country,” stated Valeriu Strelet.
Ambassador James Pettit welcomed the formation of the new Government in Moldova and reiterated the United States’ support for continuing the implementation of the reform agenda assumed by Moldova, the fight against corruption, democratization of society and economic reformation.
Since 1992, the United States has provided about US$1.2 billion in financial assistance to Moldova.
