The Republic of Moldova transmitted the completed second part of the EU accession questionnaire. The document was passed on by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița to EU Ambassador in Chisinau Janis Mazeiks in the event to inaugurate the new head office of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

Premier Gavrilița said that there are 33 chapters and over 1,800 questions on which they worked collectively so as to bring Europe at home, in Moldova. She thanked once again all those who helped formulate the responses for the made effort and for their dedication. “We want to form part of the European Union so as to build the rule of law and resilient communities and to improve people’s lives,” noted the official.

Ambassador Janis Mazeiks said that these answers are a good present in a new home. The representatives of the EU work here, in Moldova, for the benefit of the citizens, for them to have a better life, better democracy and close relations with the EU. “I was very impressed that a detailed package of answers was provided in 11 days of the receipt of the firs questions. Today I’m even more impressed as these seven volumes show the determination of the people in the Republic of Moldova to advance the relationship with the EU,” noted the ambassador.

Attending the event, Ylva Johansson, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, said the Republic of Moldova decided to make progress on the path of accession to the European Union and submitted an application for EU membership. “This gladdens me and now we accelerate the process as much as it is possible, by different steps. Today I clearly saw that Moldova belongs to the European,” stated Ylva Johansson.

On April 22, the Republic of Moldova completed the first part of the questionnaire it received after submitting the application for EU membership.
