The Moldova Partnership Platform, formerly known as the Moldova Support Platform, will assemble on September 17. This was announced by President Maia Sandu during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who visited Chisinau on Wednesday.
“Germany, along with France and Romania, is the co-founder of the Moldova Support Platform, an initiative that has significantly contributed to strengthening our ability to face the challenges of the last three years. This platform, which now becomes the Moldova Partnership Platform, will assemble on September 17”, said the Moldovan president.
According to her, the Moldovan-German partnership also extends to the essential areas of security, where Germany’s support is crucial. Sandu said that Moldova is strengthening its resilience in the face of threats to national security, with Germany also being the main contributor to the European Peace Facility.
“We want to further strengthen the economic relations between Moldova and Germany. Last week, the Ministry of Energy launched the first tender for renewable energy production capacities. Moldova is open to all investors and in this context, we invite German companies, with their vast expertise in renewable energy, to participate in this auction”, said Maia Sandu.
The Moldova Support Platform was an initiative championed by Romania, Germany and France to muster immediate political, financial and material assistance, as well as in-depth expertise for the democratic reform processes, from EU institutions and member states, the G7 countries, international financial institutions, organizations, and other development partners of Moldova.
The first Ministerial Conference of the Moldova Support Platform took place in Berlinin April 2022. The second was hosted by Bucharest in July of the same year. The third edition was held in Paris in November 2022, and the next one took place in Chisinau in October 2023.
