The citizens of Moldova who live in the Turkish provinces Manisa and Izmir will be able to use the services of the new Honorific Consulate of Moldova that was inaugurated on February 23. Murat Genc will serve as Honorific Consul, IPN reports.
The head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ana Taban said the role of a honorific consul is to protect the rights and interests of the Moldovans abroad and to inform them about the consular services in this country, which are provided only by embassies. The Honorific Consulates do not offer services for money. Their goal is to promote the bilateral relations in such areas as economy, culture, tourism, trade and investments.
The honorific consuls are citizens of the state where the Honorific Consulate is opened. Moldova also has an Honorific Consulate in Turkey’s Bursa.
