The partnership between the Republic of Moldova and NATO is a success story, secretary of state of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Vladimir Cuc stated in an interntional conference titled “Partnership and security perspectives through cooperation within NATO 2030 agenda”. In his speech, Vladimir Cuc noted that the dialogue with NATO is based on the constitutional principle of neutrality that does not prevent cooptation in the areas that meet the interests of the sides, IPN reports.

The official took stock of the priorities in the cooperation with NATO, mentioning the promotion of political dialogue on security subjects, implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan Moldova - NATO, cooperation in counteracting the new threats to security and building of resilience, management of civil emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, achievement of objectives within the Science for Peace and Security Program and others.

As to different aspects that refer to changes in the European and international security environment, the official said the Moldova – NATO partnership offers possibilities of counteracting the new challenges and threats. The partnerships with NATO enable the member states and partner countries to cooperate to promote security and stability and to strengthen rules-based international order.

“The Republic of Moldova is situated not in the most stable region of the world. 10-15 years ago, we spoke about terrorism as the main threat, but now the range of these threats widened considerably. It goes to hybrid threats, such as disinformation and cyber-attacks that become part of the daily agenda. In such a changing environment, the role of partners, of the dialogue between players, as the Alliance and its partners, becomes twice more important,” noted Vladimir Cuc.

The official also said that NATO’s new strategic concept will play its role in defining the security parameters not only in the region, but all over the European continent.

The event was organized by the Information and Documentation Center on NATO in cooperation with the NATO Liaison Office in Moldova.
