The national Under 21 football team of Moldova lost the match played away against Finland and has now smaller chances of qualifying for the 2015 UEFA European Championship. The tricolors were defeated 0-1 after they missed a penalty when the score was 0-0.

Halfback Gheorghe Anton failed to score from 11 meters and in three minutes Hatakka scored the only goal of the match. Moldova could have scored through Milinceanu and Rata. The first was unable to avoid the goalkeeper of the opponent team when face to face, while the second hit the transversal bar from a free kick.

“We dominated the game and had more chances of scoring. We didn’t deserve to lose. We were to go on,” the national team’s fullback Ivan Prodan has told IPN.

Moldova now has 13 points, by one point more than Finland. Wales has 10 points, while Lithuania 7 points. In the next match on June 5, the team trained by Alexandru Curteian meets Lithuania away. England became the group winner with 22 points. Moldova and England will meet in the last match in Tiraspol on September 9.

Moldova lineup: Coshelev, Bogdan, Focsa, Rata, Prodan (Mirza 64th minute), Gheorghiu, Anton, Spataru (Milinceanu 56th), Jardan, Dima (Graur 79th), and Carp.
