Moldova, as Ukraine, must sign the Association Agreement with the European Union as quickly as possible, Romanian MEP Monica Macovei wrote on a social networking site, quoted by IPN.
The Pro-European Coalition of Moldova made considerable effort on the path to the EU. The initialing of the Association Agreement in Vilnius and the decision to liberalize the visa regime that will be taken soon by the plenary of the European Parliament are the results achieved following this effort, stated Monica Macovei.
“Now more than ever, the European Union must support the Republic of Moldova with determination so that it resists the pressure exerted by the Russian Federation,” said the MEP.
Monica Macovei added that nobody wants a repeat of the situation in Ukraine, which refused to sign the Association Agreement initialed with the EU as agreed. In two months, about 100 people were killed in the violent clashes between the protesters and the police in Kiev.
