In addition, John Hewko spoke about the importance of an ample tackling as regards the development perspectives of the country in the process of drawing up proposals for the full assistance Programme. Voronin mentioned about the interest of Moldova in the short-term overcoming of the necessary organisational stage in order to launch the application for “Compact” Programme and ensure the sustainability of the actions aimed at complying with the 16 performance criteria settled by the Fund. At a meeting with the members of the delegation of “Millenium Challenge” Corporation and with the Ambassador of USA in Chisinau Michael D. Kirby, Speaker of Parliament Marian Lupu said it is planned to create a team of specialists who will coordinate the start and the draw-up of projects within the final stage of “Compact” Programme. John Hewko emphasised the fact that the success of the projects proposed by Moldova will depend to a great extent on the national coordinator of Moldova. At the same time, the American official emphasised that the proposals Moldova would present should refer to the settlement of the situation in two fields at most, which would benefit from a thorough reformation as result of programme’s implementation. The delegation of “Millennium Challenge” Corporation composed of 4 members is paying a visit to Moldova on January 24-27 in order to discuss Moldova’s eligibility for the Full Programme of “Millennium Challenge” Corporation, by means of which Moldova could receive considerable funds for development and poverty reduction.
