Representatives of the public association “Moldova mea” asked the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova to open an inquiry into the activity of President Igor Dodon. These requested that the President should be removed from post because he didn’t deliver the promises made in the election campaign.

In a news conference at IPN, the association’s chairman Fiodor Ghelici said his team supported Igor Dodon in the campaign prior to the presidential elections, but the latter does not fulfil his promises.

“We expected real changes in the fight against corruption and expected that the promises concerning the investigation of the banking frauds will be delivered. We expected real reforms in justice, the police and the persecution service. We believed him and hoped he will be the President of everyone and he will unite the split Moldovan society, but Igor Dodon remained the chairman of the PSRM and continues to use the country’s financial resources in own and party interests,” stated Fiodor Ghelici.

According to the activist, the President incites interethnic hatred. He goes on useless trips paid with people’s money and organizes recreational events with people’s money, while the people experience difficulties and leave the country. The quality of life hasn’t improved, but has worsened.

Fiodor Ghelici enumerated a number of electoral promises forgotten by President Dodon, such as to hold accountable those to blame for the banking frauds, to create jobs and increase pensions and salaries, to check the property of judges, prospectors and public servants.

The activist also said the multiple visits paid by the President to Russia, where he goes as if to report to his Russian counterpart , arouses suspicions that this cooperates with Russia’s FSB. Therefore, Igor Dodon can be considered a traitor.

The application was registered in Parliament on June 21 and the members of “Moldova mea” expect this will be examined as soon as possible. If the legislative body does not do it, the activists will go to court.
