The NGO Moldova Mea is proposing Igor Caldare as a candidate to fill the vacant post of civil society representative on the National Integrity Commission.
Moldova Mea leader Fiodor Ghelici told a news conference on Wednesday that all the 15 members of the organization unanimously endorsed Igor Caldare. Ghelici described Caldare as a reliable and incorruptible man.
Igor Caldare said he will soon publish his CV and will be available to answer all the questions via social networks about his vision of the job.
Caldare said the first thing he will do if he gets the post will be a study on the Commission's own integrity. If he finds any nepotism relations or withheld information on the members' incomes and assets, we will request the General Prosecutor's Office to react and demand that the members concerned resign.
Moldova Mea is willing to cover Caldare's salary to enable the government to save money on the civil society's representative on the Commission.
The National Integrity Commission's mission is to verify the incomes and assets of public officials. The post of civil society's representative remained vacant after lawyer Cristina Cojocaru resigned, doubting the political neutrality of the Commission's members. Proposals to fill the vacancy are expected until December 17.
