The public association “Moldova Mea” called on all the people of the country to come together in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau on May 19 to protest against the march that the sexual minorities intend to stage that day. In a news conference, representatives of the organization said that the event will be peaceful and is aimed at promoting national and family values, IPN reports.

The head of the Party “Moldova’s Patriots” Mihail Garbuz told the same news conference that he made an appeal to the Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and all Moldova Vladimir, asking that the Church should become involved in stopping immorality that is promoted through the march organized by the Information Center “Genderdoc-M” in the center of Chisinau. His Holiness Vladimir was also asked to bless the faithful and the priests who will come to the Great National Assembly Square at 09.30 to pray for preventing the march of the homosexuals.

In the same connection, the chairman of “Moldova Mea” Fiodor Ghelici called on the Parliament of Moldova to adopt a law that would ban the propagation of homosexuality. This law will not annul the Law on Equality of Chances, but will offer the future generations chances to defend themselves. Fiodor Ghelici also said that the leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin already reacted to this call and assured that he will support such a bill.

The representative of the Youth Movement “Voievod” Igor Sarbu underlined that 93% of the Moldovans are Christians, while the actions promoted by the sexual minorities run counter to the Christian norms and values. He added that the Moldovans will not become more ‘European’ if they legalize prostitution and homosexuality.

Former security minister Anatol Plugaru said that the events mounted by the sexual minorities are an element of degradation through which the majority population of Moldova is discredited. Sexual minorities’ marches are a form of attracting money. The Ministry of the Interior must be very cautious as it is not excluded that there will be altercations.
