Moldova’s national football team has made its best move ever in FIFA Coca-Cola rankings, by climbing to the 61st spot and gaining 497 points in the rankings updated today by the Federation. Moldova advanced 20 positions and acquired 84 extra points from last month’s performance. Moldova ranks below Ecuador and Zambia and has the same number of points as Peru. Its immediate neighbours in the rankings are Uzbekistan, Cuba and Panama. Our national football team owes this surge to the draw with Turkey (1:1) and the 3:2 away win in Malta. FIFA’s best scorers are Argentina and Brazil, which edged out Italy. Romania holds the same 12th spot as in September, while Ukraine slipped five positions to the 22nd place. Among the former Soviet countries the best scorer this month is Russia with an advancement of 10 spots to the 16th position. The best move registered by Moldova’s national team was up till now the 73rd spot in August 2006, while the worst move in May 1994 – the 149th spot.
