Moldova Mail prepares to launch in September a mobile application for paying utility bills, called “Factura”, and will pilot an electronic queue management system to improve queue times. The system will first be tested at its central office on Stefan cel Mare Blvd and then extended to other crowded postal offices in Chisinau.
The app will be compatible with devices working on Android and iOS and will contain information about the bills to be paid, the amounts and deadlines for each bill. The user will be able to select the bills he or she wants to pay and the app will generate a QR code, which will be showed to the desk operator at the postal office. The process will be much faster than at present, when the operator needs to manually input all the codes for each bill. This is expected to dramatically increase payment times.
Moldova Mail also plans to make it possible in the future for a client to pay the bills using his or her bank card.
Gheorghe Riciu, senior specialist at the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, told IPN that the exact date when the application will be launched is not yet known, but it is certain this will happen in the first half of September.
The Government decided that starting on September 1 all the social payments previously made through Banca de Economii and Banca Sociale shall be made through Moldova Mail. To cope with the surge in the number of clients, the national postal service company plans to open more offices and employ more people.
