Owing to the support offered by the European partners, the Republic of Moldova made significant progress in strengthening energy security, reorienting logistics chains and export of Moldovan products to the EU and in strengthening national security and defense, Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated in the fourth Moldova Support Platform Summit held in Chisinau, IPN reports.

“Our road has been marked by challenges that tested our resilience, but with your generous support, we managed to resist and cope with them. Today we came together not only to take stock of the accomplishments, but to also pave the way for a more prosperous and peaceful future. I have the privilege to thank the international community and our valuable partners for standing by Moldova in these hard times,” stated Premier Recean.

According to him, Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine has left a long-lasting imprint on Moldova. The repercussions are profound and of a large scale. However, despite the difficulties, the authorities can choose only to invest in a more thriving future worth being called European. There are ambitious plans to build bridges with the EU and Ukraine, rail, road and port infrastructure and to integrate this into the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). An Infrastructure Fund and a Residential Energy Efficiency Fund will be created to attract financial resources and to bring foreign expertise and international companies.

Dorin Recean noted that the Moldovan authorities undertook to strengthen energy security and efficiency. “We will present an ambitious plan to reduce energy imports and to achieve the climate and energy efficiency objectives. A fund for energy transition and independence will play an essential role in reducing financial discrepancies and in engaging international companies in this transformation,” stated the official.

The Moldova Support Platform was created on the intuitive of Romania, Germany and France to generate immediate political, financial and material support and extended expertise. The previous meetings of the Platform were held in Berlin, Paris and Bucharest. The event in Chisinau brought together 57 delegations from over 30 states, international organizations and financial institutions.
