Moldova's national football team was defeated by Sweden in a 2012 European Cup qualifying match on Tuesday, March 29, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Sweden began the game at a high pace, creating pressure at the goal defended by Stanislav Namasco. The first goal was scored on the 30th minute when a kick by Sweden's defender Mickael Lustig went off Igor Armas straight into the net. Sweden could have doubled their lead 13 minutes later when Zlatan Ibrahimovic earned a penalty kick which was blocked by Namasco.
In the second half the pressure on the Moldovan territory somewhat lessened, yet the Tricolors' attempts to create dangerous offensive situations were not successful either. Late into the game Sweden's midfielder Sebastian Larsson scored a second goal. Moldova managed to reduce the difference in added time thanks to a goal by Alexandru Suvorov.
Elsewhere in Group E, world vice-champions Netherlands had a tough struggle against Hungary whom they finally defeated 5-3.
