The national football team of Moldova remained last in Group D of thee 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying competition. Moldova lost the third match as well, to Ireland 1-3, IPN reports.

The Irish team opened the score in the 12th minute, through Shane Long. Igor Bugaiov tied in the extension of the first half, scouring thus the first goal for Moldova in the current qualifying competition. After the break, James McClean scored two times and Ireland climbed to the second position in the group, having the same score as Serbia.

”We showed a very good game. Moldova surprised us with that goal, but we decided the score of the match after the break,” the coach of Ireland Martin O'Neill told a news conference. ”I have practically no objections to the play of my team, but we again didn’t achieve a positive result,” Moldova manager Igor Dobrovolski said briefly.
