An agreement on the mutual recognition of driving licenses between Moldova and Lithuania has been signed in Vilnius. This comes as a result of high-level agreements following visits to Chisinau by Lituania’s president Gitanas Nausėda and foreign minister Gabrielius Landsbergis earlier this year.
“The provisions of this agreement will offer the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are permanently or temporarily settled in the Republic of Lithuania a number of benefits, such as exemption from additional instruction and examination when converting driving licenses and costs related to this process, free movement in international traffic, and facilitation of employment,” said Veaceslav Dobîndă, State Secretary of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, during the signing ceremony.
The visit of the Moldovan diplomat to Vilnius takes place on the invitation of Inga Černiuk, Chancellor of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The visit agenda also included discussions related to Moldova’s reform agenda, the implementation of the AA/DCFTA, the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit, bilateral political consultations, and assistance for development.
