Moldova has launched a maritime-railroad freight shipment corridor between the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea. The goods will be transported by the container train ZUBR, IPN reports.
In a communiqué, the Government says that the number of containers conveyed by this platform increased about 3.5 times, from 1,160 containers in 2012 to approximately 4,000 containers in 2013.
Last December, Moldova’s Railways and Danube Logistics became partners of the regional project ZUBR, which is a regular route train carrying containers from the ports of the Black Sea to the ports of the Baltic Sea.
Acting Prime Minister Vlad Filat Tuesday took part in a demonstration of loading of containers from China that are to be sent to Belarus, Ukraine and other countries by railroad. He stressed the importance of participating in such projects that contribute to reducing transportation costs and attracting foreign transit transport that bypassed Moldova until now.
