Moldova has joined the Open Government Partnership and concentrates its efforts on achieving three great objectives – to strengthen public integrity, optimize the management of public resources and improve public services, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Government, a delegation of Moldova is taking part in the first annual assembly of the Open Government Partnership that is taking place in Brazil on April 17 and 18. Moldova is represented at the forum by the Government’s Secretary General Victor Bodiu, the executive director of the e-Government Center Stela Mocan, and the Open Data coordinator of the e-Government Center Irina Tishakova. The assembly brought together representatives from over 50 countries. The delegates discuss plans concerning the governments’ openness to people. Unlike other global meetings, the leaders of the world are accompanied by representatives of NGOs and ICT companies. All are equal partners in this initiative. The communiqué says that Open Government Partnership is a new international initiative aimed at securing concrete commitments from governments to promote transparency, increase civic participation, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to make government more open, effective, and accountable. The Government of Moldova subscribed to this initiative.
