The Republic of Moldova has officially joined the International Solar Alliance (ISA). The framework agreement was signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi at an official ceremony in New Delhi, together with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, IPN reports.

"The Republic of Moldova’s accession to the ISA opens the doors for the development of innovative solutions in the renewable energy sector and for international cooperation partnerships that support our clean energy transition," said Minister Mihai Popșoi.

Through this initiative, the Republic of Moldova becomes the 121st member of the ISA, joining a global partnership that promotes solar energy as a central pillar of sustainability. The Republic of Moldova's goal is to ensure that, by 2030, over 30% of the national energy consumption is satisfied with renewable energy, and joining the ISA will facilitate the development of projects that generate 510 MW of renewable energy, said Mihai Popșoi.

The ISA, founded by India and France, is an international organization dedicated to promoting the use of solar energy and developing sustainable solutions in this field. The Alliance provides support for the deployment of solar technologies, the development of local capacities and the implementation of joint projects between member countries.

During the official visit to New Delhi, the two foreign ministers signed a number of documents, including a Declaration of Intent on Migration, a Memorandum of Understanding between the foreign ministries. The discussions focused on the intensification of bilateral cooperation in agriculture, education, health and green energy, the higher exports of Moldovan fruit to India and the possibility of an Indian aviation operator entering the Moldovan market.

Also, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in New Delhi was officially inaugurated, marking a new chapter in the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
