Moldova, Italy to sign Memorandum on industrial cooperation

Moldova and Italy on Tuesday, 22 January, will sign a Memorandum on industrial cooperation aimed at developing commercial and economic relations between the two countries, at spurring the development of the industrial sector, placing the stress on opening joint stock companies.
The Memorandum will be signed by Minister of Economy and Trade Igor Dodon, who is on a working visit to Italy, and the Secretary of State of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, Marco Stradiotto. The goal of Dodon’s visit is to take over the Italian experience in the field of constructions and ensuring the successful activity of industrial parks.
During his stay in Italy, 21-23 January, Igor Dodon will visit the cities of Rome and Rieti. In the Italian capital the Minister will meet high officials from the Ministry of Regional Development. Igor Dodon will visit industrial parks in Rieti – “EDA Industries”, “EEMS-Solsonica” and the Industrial Park in Padova, near Rome.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Trade, over the months of January-November 2007 Moldova’s external trade with Italy totalled 369.7 million USD. Moldova’s exports to Italy made up 126.6 mln USD, and imports amounted to 243.1 mln USD.
Italy is among the first 5 trading partner countries of Moldova, accounting for 12% of the total exports.
