Moldova is the only country rapidly nearing the EU, Polish official

“Moldova is the first and only country nearing the European Union so rapidly”, said Andrzej Halicki, co-chairman of the Moldovan-Polish Parliamentary Assembly and the one who initiated the declaration of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in July 2012 about the progress of reforms in Moldova. The statement was made during Moldovan First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc’s meeting in Warsaw with the leaders of partner structures in the Polish Parliament: co-chairman of the Moldovan-Polish Parliamentary Assembly Andrzej Halicki, head of the Group of Friendship with Moldova in the Polish Parliament Adam Lipiński and the Group’s deputy leader Jerzy Polacek, Info-Prim Neo learned from a press release of the Chisinau Parliament. The bilateral relations between the two countries will strengthen in the upcoming period on the occasion of the meeting of the Moldovan-Polish Parliamentary Assembly, which will take place in Chisinau in March 2013, announced Vlad Plahotniuc. MP Igor Corman, co-chairman of the Moldovan-Polish Parliamentary Assembly, presented in Warsaw Moldova’s priorities considering the prospect of European integration. “Our goal is firm: Moldova wants to sign the Association Agreement, the visa liberalization and the Deep and Comprehensive FTA”. The Moldovan-Polish Parliamentary Assembly is a joint consultative body, created in July 2011, with the aim to develop common perspectives on topics of bilateral interest. Vlad Plahotniuc also visited the Polish Constitutional Tribunal, answering an invitation from the Tribunal head Andrzej Rzeplinski made during a meeting last week in Chisinau. According to the Parliament’s press release, this year marks 20 years of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Poland and bilateral cooperation between the two countries is considered positive. An important moment for the strengthening of the partnership between Moldova and Poland will be the Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski’s visit in Moldova on December 3.
