The United States will offer the Republic of Moldova full support for coming closer to the European Union and the U.S., Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell said in a meeting with Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, who is in Washington on a visit, IPN reports, with reference to the legislature’s press service.
“We are impressed by the efforts made by Moldova to do reforms and encourage you to continue,” stated the U.S. official.
According to Wess Mitchell, Moldova is on the front line of geopolitical confrontation. The U.S. approves of the steps taken so far by the Moldovan authorities and will offer more support to the country and the region.
Speaker Andrian Candu is visiting the U.S. during April 11-19. He will have meetings at the U.S. Congress, the offices of USAID, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, the U.S. Treasury, the U.S Department of State, etc.
