Moldova is no longer seen as the best student of the Eastern Partnership only. The country managed to shift to a new level of relations both with the U.S. and with the other important partners. This new relationship is a mature one, based on an advanced level of confidence, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca told a news conference, quoted by IPN.

Iurie Leanca, who recently returned from the U.S., said the United States is ready to support us further and want Moldova to be a predictable country that generates security at regional level and that can create the necessary comfort for its people.

The Premier said the launch of the Strategic Dialogue with the United States will enable to institutionalize the bilateral relations on a number of key subjects, including the intensification of trade and attraction of U.S. investments to Moldova. The committee on trade matters, which last met in 2005, was restored.

In New York, the Premier had a meeting with the Moldovan diaspora. “I realized that the Moldovan citizens are not only interested in what is going on, but also want to contribute ideas, new approaches to developing the general situation in Moldova, to improving the investment climate and to extending the commercial relations,” said Iurie Leanca. He also said that many of the co-nationals actively promote the Moldovan wines and that they discussed the possibility of organizing a visit by Moldovan winemakers to the U.S.
