Moldova ranks the 17th regarding the equality of chances between women and men. According to "The Global Gender Gap Report 2006", published by the World Economic Forum, none of the countries in the world has fully closed the gender gap. The Report measured the size of the gender gap in four critical areas of inequality between men and women: economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, political empowerment, and health. Based on these, the first performers are Sweden, Norway and Finland. Neighbor countries of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine share the 46-th and 47-th places. The worst-ranked countries are Chad, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. 115 countries were covered in order to draw up the report.
